I am hoping to build a compact home unit, capable of generating a small amount of power.
This unit will have a belt drive to a 12v motor.
Although power generated would be minimal, I like the idea of generating power from your homes standard water pressure...
if we need to use it, we might as well generate a little bit of power too.

edit update: after re-assesing the design I have concluded that it would be most practical to take a standard 12v inline pump and run the mains pressure through the device. It is pre-built, designed for those purposes and potentials could not be produced through home manufacture of the device.
Next step is to install and collect some relavent data samples from its energy output.
I should dedicate more time to this project. I realise that the efficiency of this device is not optimum but just the the idea of a "mini hydro electric plant" gets my designing juices flowing.
